GumFighters Australia Launch in
Broken Hill
GumFighters used the Local Government association Conference
in Broken Hill as the perfect place to launch the innovative
GumFighters service in Australia.
The conference was attended by 0ver 750 people representing
councils and shires throughout New South Wales. Keynote
speakers at the conference included The Premier of NSW,
Bob Carr, NSW Minister of Transport and Roads, Carl
Sculley and the Leader of the Opposition in NSW John
Brogden.
"The Conference was a resounding success for us. The
positive response we received was overwhelming."
GumFighters had a display stand and were also commissioned
by the conference organizers to remove gum from the
conference area outside and from the carpet in the exhibition
centre itself.
Everyone we spoke to agreed that there is a widespread
pollution problem caused by poorly disposed chewing
gum – and confirmed that councils do want to do something
positive to clean up the streets by getting rid of the
unsightly black spots which cause so much adverse comment
from business owners and residents.
With millions of pieces of gum disposed of in Australia
every year thoughtlessly, NSW is not alone in its fight
to eradicate this unsightly problem.
Delegates Statewide confirmed their vision to create
the cleanest possible environment in their local areas.
